My ResumeSUMMARY
I am passionate about and commited to serving the needs of each of my students and my classes. I utilize therapeutic movement, an understanding of learning styles and multiple intelligences, scientific observation and an artistic sensibility to support my students' learning and growth. I seek to cultivate curiosity, confidence, initiative and effectiveness in 5th – 9th grade students. I design programs to meet the need for meaning and connection in middle and high school students. I have experience teaching in the unique environment of and students in international schools, 'English as Another Language' students and applying Waldorf practices in non-Waldorf schools. I am experienced as a mentor. I especially love mentoring by example- wherein I teach a science unit while the teacher sits in and observes. I also have experience with consensus model facilitation and decision – making. |

HIGHLIGHTS
- Taught 6-9th grade science classes in Sudan; developed scope and sequence for Kindergarten through 9th grade science curriculum; initiated, developed and led 5 – 7 day curriculum-based field trips for 8th and 9th grades; developed a new model for the school science fair which focused on solving real world problems; introduced and facilitated the implementation of new classes and programs such as Permaculture and The Virtues Project.
- Created and implemented a sex education curriculum which enhanced and integrated into the Waldorf curriculum – specifically for 6th grade, but applicable to middle school classes in general. Mentored other teachers and parent communities in the implementation of the curriculum- particularly the Red Tent/ Blue Tipi ceremony.
- Taught one class for 5th and 6th grade and another for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades at Live Oak Charter School. Brought a standard of academic and artistic excellence, accountability and integrity to classes with a high proportion of special need students and a history of crisis. Mentored middle school teachers and initiated and co-designed several new successful programs that strengthened Live Oak's middle school program.
